The third biggest town in Navarra, Barañáin (that has somewhat merged with Pamplona in the past few years), celebrated its fiesta over the last week and provided a taster of what’s to come in Pamplona this week.

The community of Barañáin came together for a four-day long fiesta to celebrate their local Patron Saints; San Esteban and San Pablo. The children were dressed in white, their red panuelos and fajas worn proudly. Lively Charangas, groups playing instruments, paraded through the streets. Orchestras and concerts with traditional Spanish music entertained in the main square. The txosnas, the Basque drinking tents, were set up, providing the masses with drinks, kalimotxo being the most popular, and political messages (this year’s theme being feminism) as well as live music in Basque. There were fireworks over the lake of Barañain and an electro DJ set to finish off the night.
